Tiny House Flooring

It has been a while since our last post! I have taken a small break to try to work on our Instagram page! It is up and running well, so we are back to maintain our blog. Since it has been some time since we have done anything on the blog, we have lots to share! Today’s post is all about our tiny home’s flooring!

To start off, we did have some issues when it came to our subfloor. We made some mistakes when it came to product choice. I will go through exactly what we did, our problems, and what we are doing to fix it. I hope this helps some people out there, as I could not find anything on the web about the problems we were having.  (more…)

Enjoying Bandelier National Monument

IMG_0632Bandelier National Monument is a historical site, that holds the remains of Ancestral Pueblo people’s settlement. If you are interested in learning about history, going on beautiful hikes, and/or love getting a glimpse of the New Mexico wildlife, I highly recommend you visit!

Our experience at Bandelier was a great one! Our family was definitely in love! The entire time we were there we were in awe at the landscape and the set up the Ancestral Pueblo people had! (more…)

In Honor of Spring

In honor of the beginning of spring, I have decided to share what we did today! I love plants, indoor plants, outdoor plants, I love them all! So naturally, one of my preferred activities for spring is gardening! This year I have decided to include my older son in the fun!

I don’t have much experience with doing an outdoor vegetable garden, but this year I am giving it a try. Today we started simple, my son and I planted some flowers around the area we are going to start the garden, to draw more bees. (more…)

Tiny Home Progress – Our Start

Here is a quick and informative update on our home progress.

We already have our trailer and frame. We bought our materials from the framing company Volstrukt. We choose this company because, their frames are made from steel, and they are reasonably priced.

Steel is our chosen material because, its light weight (reducing the overall weight of our home), study, and won’t rot or get pests. It also is easier to work with in our experience this far.

Our base, which is our trailer, is custom from Volstrukt as well. My husband is currently attaching galvanized sheet metal to the underbelly of the trailer. We bought our sheet metal in four different pieces, which makes attaching it a bit easier. My husband is now wishing we would have ordered the sheets in smaller sizes, which would have been a lot more help! (more…)

Aquarium for a Cold Windy Day

IMG_0303Our family had plans to go hiking today, but the weather had another idea. We still could have done the hike, but we chose to do an indoor activity instead. (Checking the weather is something we need to start!)

We decided on our local aquarium, mainly because my older son kept suggesting it. He loves sharks, so he’s always excited to see one.

We love going to see all of the beautiful aquatic animals, and we want to have an educational trip. So in preparation, we printed out a free activity packet from aqua.org and gathered two books to read.

One of the books we already had from a previous trip to the aquarium. The second book, All the Water in the World, I bought as a tablet version so the kids can look at it on their tablet. We choose these books because they are fun and educational for the kids. They get to learn about ocean creatures and the water cycle. (more…)
